First Resume Blog Post

Some would say I have too many blogs. I have my main technology-centered one at http://www.mydemos.com/blog. I have one devoted to my experience writing books at http://www.mydemos.com/booklog. And I set up one for some personal thoughts (things that don't properly belong on any of the other blogs) at http://myrandommusings.blogspot.com/.

And now there is a resume blog - this one you're reading.

Q. What is a resume blog?

A. Well, I don't rightly know. This is an experiment. Quite frankly, if it looks like it is not working, I will delete the site.

Q. Are you just going to post a text version of your resume here?

A. No, I don't think so. I think I will talk a bit, now and again, about my education, skills and experience. I'll talk about what I "do" every day at work, what I'm good at, and what I'm not good at.

Q. If not your actual resume, what will you post?

Maybe I'll relate some true-life stories of places I've worked, projects I worked on, challenges I've faced and overcome, and challenges I've faced and not overcome.

Q. So, what's the point?

Well, for one, at the present time I am an I.T. contractor. I work short-term contracts for companies, helping them through a busy period or with technology they are unfamiliar with. I am considering going full time at some point.

So the point of this will be for a potential employer to see me for who I really am. Not just one two-dimensional resume sitting amoung a pile of dozens... but a three-dimensional person. Someone they can see working on their team, and really fitting in.
