Hi there. My name is Scott Duffy, and welcome to my book writing log. I have documented the process of writing my last two books on this site, and have started my third. This book will be called Visual Studio Team System In Action, and should be available in 2005.

What Is There Left To Write About?
My agent tells me there is not many new .NET books being published these days. That means I probably won't be able to do a .NET book this year as I planned. That's too bad, as that would have fit more into my long term plan.
I asked her about the possibility of doing a "second edition" to one of my previous books. I don't know if there's much money in it, but it keeps the book sales alive. If you think about it, a book that has been through two or three editions has a better chance of being better than a book that has only had one edition.
We'll see. Still trying to get the next book deal.

My Book Editing Days
As you may know, Amazon.com has started indexing the "inside" of many of its books. When you search for some words in Amazon.com, you will see books that include the terms in their contents, not just in their title.
One of my earliest experiences in the book publishing business was editing a book called "HTML Black Book". Amazon.com now has an image of the credits page, with my name on it:

I'm also listed in the acknowledgements:

Waterside Conference 2004
Is anybody going to the Waterside Publishing Conference this year? I am seriously considering going. (Waterside authors get in free, so that's a bonus.)
I'd love to hear from anyone who has been there in the past and can tell me what to expect.
